UO Entrepreneurship Club to host entrepreneur Ryan Blair

EUGENE, Ore. -- (Feb. 8, 2010) -- The University of Oregon Entrepreneurship Club will host successful entrepreneur, start-up investor and motivational speaker Ryan Blair, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11. Blair, currently the CEO of Visalus Sciences, will speak at the Lundquist College of Business at the Lillis Business Complex, Room 282, 955 E. 13th Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Blair overcame the adversity of a troubled home life and harsh street reality to gain early career success in 1999. At 21, he launched his first entrepreneurial venture, 24/7 Tech, and in just over 18 months grew it into a $1 million company. As the founder of five other startups, he has generated more than $150 million in shareholder equity in the last decade.

The visit to UO comes in advance of the release of his new book, "Nothing to Lose," that will be released at the end of February. The book, co-authored with Don Yaeger, New York Times best-selling author, is aimed at young business leaders who he calls the entrepreneurial generation.

Open to UO students inside or outside the Lundquist College of Business, the Entrepreneurship Club gives members a sense of what it means to be an entrepreneur by organizing events, gaining insight from experienced entrepreneurs and participating in student ventures.
