Sexism isn’t rampant in computer science, says Kiki Davis (a UO doctoral student), but it’s there -- so writes Marc Dadigan for the College of Arts and Sciences in a story about computer science's lack of women students and faculty. ... Sarah Douglas, UO educator, says: “I’ve gone five years teaching 400- and 500-level courses without seeing a single woman. When there’s so few, it’s hard to feel comfortable.” A challenge here? A story in The Oregonian looked at the CBS series "The Big Bang Theory," asking several real scientists what they think of the television show. The comedy is scoring well. Among the fans is Stephen Hsu, a professor of physics, who says "it is hilarious." (Read Story)

Today, four economic experts were posed the question, "Did the Stimulus Work?" by the New York Times. UO's Mark Thoma offers his insight that the stimulus package got off to a shaky start and the big danger is if we declare victory too soon. Read more here.
