About Us

Public Affairs works to expand public awareness of the University of Oregon, its programs, initiatives, and academic excellence.

The Public Affairs team serves the UO and campus community by providing support and guidance to across campus as potential issues arise. This support can include crisis communications strategy, media, and community relations. Staff acts as the public information officer for the UO Police Department and for the university during emerging events; facilitates interviews and media responses for university senior administrators; and works with central communications to develop communications strategies that advance major university initiatives, faculty and staff, and UO academic and research activities.

When a crisis arises, Public Affairs represents the UO’s interests by providing accurate and timely information to the campus community and media. Public Affairs staff are first responders for events and incidents on campus.

Public Affairs supports Government and Community Relations’ efforts to strengthen university relationships with business leaders, legislators, and influencers.
