EUGENE,
Ore. -- (May 22, 2009) - A sculpture by artist Susi Rosenberg will be installed
on the University of Oregon campus. A dedication ceremony will take place from
10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, in the courtyard at the northeast corner
of E. 15th Avenue and University Street.

The
sculpture, "Path II," is a series of curved steel beams and concrete
boxes, which capture rain water. Rosenberg, a German artist, participated in
the artist in residence program at the UO a few years ago and gifted the piece
she created during that time to the university. She will attend the ceremony.

Rosenberg
grew up in Germany and Israel, and the Jewish artist's work often has themes
that address questions of remembering and forgetting. While her work is often associated
with the Holocaust, Rosenberg said this piece is about life.

"The
water of the basins is not standing still. It is moving vertical,"
Rosenberg said. "Falling down as rain, it will evaporate up to the sky,
move around the globe and come down as rain again and fill the basins for a
while. It's an ongoing process like breathing and symbolically connects earth
and universe. Water holds all the information of life."
