Joe Lowndes is an academic expert on race, populism, conservatism and social movements in US politics. His most recent book, with Daniel Martinez HoSang, is "Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity." His current project traces the development of “Middle America” and its destructive impact on US politics over the last half-century.
