Lauren M. Cycyk is an academic expert in the bilingual language development of young children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and caregiver-centered interventions and equity-driven systems that promote positive communication and educational outcomes of this population from the earliest ages. Her research focuses primarily on children from Latinx backgrounds who are exposed to Spanish and English in their homes and communities. Lauren can speak about the impact of the current political climate and immigration policy on the outcomes of young bilingual children from immigrant families, how to address the 30-million-word gap between children from high- and low-income families, and about national initiatives to improve the early educational outcomes of children from Latinx backgrounds.
