MEDIA ADVISORY: University of Oregon to host media forum on reading literacy

WHAT: Reading ability has been linked to children’s overall academic achievement and post school success. Yet not all students have access to instruction that will ensure they become successful readers. Research plays an important role in identifying practices that help teachers instruct and children learn. Journalists are invited to a forum on reading literacy featuring experts from the University of Oregon College of Education. Each panelist will spend a few minutes talking about their research in reading literacy, recap what they are doing to address the reading crisis and discuss what families and teachers can do to be part of the solution. The remainder of the time will be a question-and-answer session with journalists and other stakeholders.
WHEN: Tuesday, June 6, 11 a.m. PDT
